The Ka-Bike-O-Scope
The Ka-Bike-O-Scope (KBOS) is a 17' tall kinetic light sculpture. A user can ride the attached stationary bike or turn the hand cranks to activate the bicycle wheels in the canopy. The cranks drive DC motors which turn the wheels and light up LED floods for a dramatic kaleidoscope effect on the ground below. The wheels were a community engagement component in which Quincy and Luke went to area schools to first give a demonstration on the physics of light synthesis and then have the students design and attach the colored panels in the wheels. This sculpture is installed on Pleasant Run Parkway and Barth Street in Indianapolis, IN.
