Reading: Reorganization of Space
Reading: Reorganization of Space was an art installation at the Reading Public Museum comprised of cardboard geometric sculptures and a sound art composition that represent the community of Reading, Pennsylvania. The artists visited the city to record the stories of the people, the sounds of the city and surrounding areas as a way of understanding the past and present by linking shared societal experiences, beliefs, emotions, etc... The forms conceptually represent humans as members of a larger audience who share, observe, and participate in the experiences emanating from the center and will suggest a moment of stasis or stillness as this community shifts from past to future. The 9-channel fixed media sound art filled the environment with the voices and sounds of Reading, connecting the community to the installation, each other, and our broader human story.
