Lap

An interesting connection exists between the use of sounds of water waves, rainfall, white noise, and the hum of a fan for relaxation and slumber. The experience of a periodic wave cresting over and over provides an internal mesmerizing effect that speaks of ancient times and a connection deep within our DNA.  Small fans housed in the box create a rippling effect in the plastic sheeting conceptually representing water waves. The sound art will be composed of pitch-shifted audio samples of different fans creating a drone-like ambient effect conceptually representing the white noise generated by rainfall and waves.
